It's great to elevate ham radios' utility and publicize its use. However,
isn't this a little over-kill.? I mean, a little FRS/GMRS or CB would do
the job, not require a license and be cheap enough for a lot more of the
LFNW volunteers to obtain and use.

Just sayin'

We could agree on a 2m regency for the show. Not sure if there are repeaters
in the area. Been meaning to break out my handy-talkie for a while now.

What ham radio Linux applications are "you" using out there my Linux peeps?

At a BLUG planning meeting this past summer, I brought a handheld ham radio
and floated the idea that such radios would be helpful in coordinating
things during LinuxFest NW. Has anyone been doing any thinking along these
lines?

I encourage everyone with even a smidgen of interest in radio to get their
license.
