Fanon, and completely incorrect.
The curse seal of the Hyuuga branch family serves two purposes:
1. Allows the main family a means of controlling the branch family by pain
of death.
2. When a branch family member dies, the seal activates, destroying their
Byakugan and making it impossible for enemy shinobi to study and copy it.
Incidentally, we're dangerously close to veering into a completely offtopic
discussion here,so we should probably can the Hyuuga subdiscussion. ^_^;;
