Well, yeah, certain staples tend to come with the territory when it comes to
shounen manga. :)

Kushina isn't exactly "historically significant" aside from having gotten
knocked up by the Fourth. :P There's no indication that she was anything
other than a skilled kunoichi of a country which no longer exists who just
happens to be Naruto's mother.

Assuming she was Hyuuga. Which is a rather large assumption. Given the
stability of the bloodline in its present state, I rather doubt there is
THAT much inbreeding going on.
Now, if she'd been Uchiha, THAT would've made sense. But that's best left
for later speculation.

Regardless of his personal views, Neji is still Hyuuga. VERY BLATANTLY
Hyuuga. He's EXACTLY LIKE every other member of the clan except Hinata. If
they put him at the head of the clan, he'd do exactly what they expect of
him.
(Besides, as clan head, he'd have considerably more leverage to infuence
tradition and try to do away with the whole branch/seal issue. He wouldn't
be able to do it in one generation, but his heirs...you never know.)

Because Hiashi's a dumbshit :P It took watching Neji go off on his emo rant
while fighting Naruto to shake loose some of the shit clogging up his brain.

Heh. That's just because nobody likes the thought of cute little Hinata-chan
getting a big ugly brand on her pretty little face. :)
