I've never bought from your source, but have often encountered prepared
fiber that had somehow been shortened in the processing.
Whether it was "cut" or was simply the short comb outs, I'm not sure.
When buying roving or other processed fiber, pull out a few fibers and
measure them singly to avoid disappointment.
Very short fibers will never produce good, thick singles - the yarn will be
weak and want to pill a lot.
