AHA! so there was some inspiration gleaned from the sweater story.
nancy takes it to another level.
This discussion has made me wonder about several things. How many of
those disappointed are longtime veterans? Does it take something with
extra oomph to get us excited anymore? How many of us, who are wading
hipdeep in fiber stash, want to create any sweater just the way the
pattern reads? How many are forsaking patterns altogether?
(as I reach for a taller soapbox...)
please send comments in to the editors. Spin Off is another kind of
'guild' for many people without a local fiber community. Just as this
list would fizzle if no one wrote any more, no one asked any more
questions, the Spin Off editors need input. I think the new editor (Amy
Clarke) made a good decision in surveying the readership. But don't
wait to be asked next time.
And as for the woolen/worsted debate, bravo to Rita for writing this
article which has brought so much discussion to the community! Please
write a letter to the editor, and keep the discussion going. No one
should let someone else decide that these words no longer have meaning,
even if it's RB.
I've noted that many of my older issues are rediscovered treasures as my
interests change, while the magazines may have been 'filed' when they
first arrived.
OK, I'm stepping down for the next one to take it up. And perhaps I
should write to Amy...
