The thing I would have preffered for the collaborative
sweater project, would have been for Meg Swanson to
design a sweater to the handspun yarn, rather than
have the spinner recreate the commercial yarn Meg
planned the design from. Yes, being able to spin that
beautifully is wonderful, but I think the beauty of
most handspun yarn is the texture and natural
variations. If I want something from commercial style
yarn, I would just buy it.
I also think there were better example of using
natural colored fleeces in previous articles,
especially those featuring Jacob fleeces.
I loved both of Rita's articles, but I also took a
workshop with her last year where we went into much
more detail and actual hands-on sampling. She is a
great teacher.
