Every textile conservator I have met would not agree with this. Glass is inert, but that has nothing to do with making sure the textile does not come in contact with it.
If the textile touches the glass, any moisture will be trapped and stain the textile (look at just about any old sampler framed under glass, and you'll see what I mean.) In addition, the textile needs airspace from the glass.
