You could also try Coopworths. In New Zealand, where the breed was developed by crossing Romneys and Border Leicesters, meat lambs are the main product, but the wool clip is sold for rugs. Most US breeders are handspinners and/or sell to handspinners, so our fleeces have a softer hand, though still have a micron count of about 37. Another thing to keep in mind, lamb's wool is the finest, so if you are breeding, you can shear the market lambs in the fall, as I do. These fleeces from 7 month old lambs have a staple length of about 4-5". Don't know the micron count on them, but they are soft as angora bunny fur! I have more breed info at-
