I also spin on a Lendrum and have never had any problems plying with 
the regular bobbin size.  I do adjust the tension a bit sometimes.  I 
wonder if you need to at least put the regular flyer on as opposed to 
the fast flyer.  I am not talking about that very fast flyer that has 
a 40:1 ratio.
