Hmm. I learned to spin with Karakul because that's what kind of sheep I
had. My husband gave me a wheel for Christmas six months after we got our
first sheep. In the fifteen years since then I have expanded and have
Romney, Karakuls and natural colored fine wools. I used to have Finns which
is my favorite fleece. I still have a few crossbred Finn ewes but wish I
could have more purebreds. They just don't pay their way as well as the
others so they were the ones who had to leave when I had to reduce my flock.
It's a toss up as to my second favorite fleece - Romney or Merino but not
the commercially prepared Merino. Targee fits in there somewhere as well.
Don't like Border Leicester, Cotswold or Lincoln. Unless I'm working on a
rug, Karakul has slipped down the list as well.
