I learnt to spin back in the 80s for weaving with singles only and at the time it was a harsh drysdale or similar type of roving that you bought from a carpet making plant.

Then later in the late 80s I learnt to spin and ply thread for much better things like knitting! And at that time I also changed wheels as the Ashford Traveller was to clunky for what I wanted to. Refined stuff as the private tutor was refined! So at that time I got a Pipy horizontal - later that got sold as it was too awkward and at the time I needed $$. At that time I learnt to spin a wide range of nice fleece.

I currently spin on either an electronic Ashford [black box] or one of my interesting wheels that I happen to own. I'm in the process of getting one already to sell - it just needs a lot of TLC and some running time - it's a Popular Mechanics kitset wheel which I'm loathe to sell but I have just tooooooooo many wheels in relationship to the time/space I have.

Now I like to spin in the grease but currently I'm spinning some commercially carded Cormo. which is a Corriedale/Merino X. I don't particularily mind what the fleece is as I like to try different things and I have lots of stash that I either have a huge amount of like fleeces +++ or I have very small nice luxury bits etc.

I belong to a mailorder spinning group as such and last newsletter we were sent about 50grms of hemp to try - it waits for me to do that.
