I work in a Thrift Store which is the ultimate recycle shop in the area. Yesterday, we were packaging up donated school supplies to sell. If they are not packaged like we did, one of the other workers will just toss them all out. The ones which do not sell in a reasonable time are donated to a People Loving People or Global organization and are given to children in the "third world". One of the workers, a wonderful woman about my age, said something about knowing how to make things and how so many young people just don't know how. We have been brought up to make stuff. My mother would take her old coat and make me one. Of course, once she had a bit more money she embraced being able to buy stuff. She is 85 though and still loves to knit and keeps me in lovely hand made socks and sweaters. May she stay healthy for several more years. This may be why I like to do things. I like to think that I would survive a crisis. And, I have been experiencing some lately, not what those in other countries may experience, but I was rear ended while driving by a young man the other day and it is not a good experience. Sorry, not much fibre content, but the idea is there and I have been spinning some lovely, lustrous wool which will go into a handwoven blanket. I am carding batts, spinning, carding, spinning and having a lovely time.
