I finally made a handspun woven blanket a few years ago for DD--and I hated every minute :) She insisted on black warp and moorit weft, which really didn't work for me, and wouldn't allow any pattern other than straight 2/2 twill. I sewed two panels together, and it's big enough to cover a twin bed very generously--might do a double, in fact. I was better pleased with it when done than I expected, but she just complains it's too big <grrrr>

Even a spinner can be picky about handspun gifts, apparently!
