Tricia says: I am just randomly carding the fleece into batts, spin 3 per bobbin and the colours change constantly so will see how I will put the weaving bobbins together.

I took a rug weaving class many years ago from a woman whose name currently escapes me but she wove her rugs with a random weft. (Marjorie Snyder?) She'd decide on the colors she wanted in the rug and then would set the cones out and randomly start winding a color on the bobbin. She'd wind until she thought it would be enough of that color then switched - mid bobbin - to another color. Again, she'd wind until she thought there was enough of that color then switch again. I've done this with a few projects (not rugs) and it's amazing what happens.

I raise Karakul sheep and have been spinning and saving the various colors I get with a rug in mind using this technique. Only problem is that I periodically use some of the yarns for a different project and then have to wait for another animal with wool colors that I don't have in the stash. But one day.......
