I have navajo plied before but, as it's been a long time, needed a
refresher course. Thank you everyone for the help and it has been help.
This is a polworth roving blended in an assortment of brown and rust. The
color repeats are huge which gives me a lot of spinning in one color before
it blends into the next color. I'd like to preserve the colors and knit a
lace shawl with the color progression. It may not be quite fine enough with
the navajo plying but perhaps I can squeak it out. If the yarn is too heavy
for the lace knitting, then I'll switch to a sweater. I love the colors and
don't want to ruin the yarn. I guess I'll spin up some of my plain jane
white roving and practice the plying.
The roving is interesting in that there is color progression but it isn't
dyed that way. There are different color fibers within each color change
that have to have been carded that way. The changes are gradual and quite
long. I'm loving spinning this. It's a roving from Rovings.com and I wish
they still had this color.
