Wow! Lets see: AFAIK you can always switch thing on and off with the computer on. The only problem is with the hard disks that may not mount, but a simple utility like SCSI Probe (even an old versions will work) will mount any disk in the chain.
SCSI terminator are different beasts. The terminator will not work if the device is off, but that does not mean that you need the termination at all! What I mean is that a device may or not work without a proper termination. To check that simply turn on the hard disk or the Syquest and _dont_ turn on the scanner. Copy a big dummy file (an audio file or something like that) to the HD, wait and see. If you experience errors then turn on the scanner an repeat! And yes you can switch devices off without problems. Simply drag the hard disks to the trash to unmount them (u win-people shut up! I know it dont make sense). Then you can turn it off safely. And dont tell me that you dont love all those different connectors 25, 50, SCSI1, SCSI2, ultrawide scsi, mini-ultrawide scsi. How wonderful! I am just praying for my scanner to die so I can buy a Firewire one! Saludos, Johannes. > Perhaps you can enlighten me: > > In my SCSI chain I have a Syquest EZ, a HD, a CD burner and a Scanner.
