I own the same printer and it must be connected with 2 local talk
connectors--not a serial cable.  Just so I am clear, the local talk
hook ups have telephone connectors and can be daisy chained.  Each devise
has two inputs and the one(s) that are open must be terminated.
BTW, I have been very happy with my printer.  No problems.
