You should really get that external FireWire drive even if you're planning on replacing the internal drive -- it costs less than paying someone to do the data transfer for you, and it will make backups from the new internal drive much easier. I'm sure you're more than capable of handling that stuff for yourself, and if you need additional advice, I'm know Phil and I and everyone else on the list would be happy to help any way we can.
Indeed, but Darcy, let's get clear on "Philip". The "Phil" on this list, Phil Daley, hasn't looked at Macs much since his Macintosh SE, System 6 was state of the art.
