Dear folks,

While the discussion of what's wrong, how it really works, and what changes might be made in lyric entry rages on, let me just add that in spite of all that's been said, (and is likely to continue to be said ad nauseam), I have no trouble at all with lyric entry for large and small choral pieces from solo voice up to 8-part chorus. A few fixes or improvements to the lyric system would be welcome, but a complete overhaul would likely lead to a frustrating relearning situation for those of us who deal with lyrics every day.

No one else seems to have mentioned how "Clone Lyric" affects all this. I use Clone Lyric both vertically when parts have parallel lyrics and horizontally when there is imitation or canon, and I have used it for sections where the lyrics will be repeated. With lyric cloning I don't have to enter the same text over and over. When a difference in rhythm leaves out a syllable, it's easy to enter it using Click Assignment. One of the most useful things about Clone Lyric is when you make a change or correction in the source voice, all the clones reflect the change.

Maybe some of you will find this information helpful. Sorry for the mini-rant in the first paragraph. It's not my usual mode.

Hal
