That's fairly common in some French music, where some styles like to represent a word with an unaccented "e" on the end by showing it as a separate syllable on a tied note.
When I have one of these, I usually omit the tie until after I've click-assigned, and then put the tie on afterward. If I forget, shift lyrics left works, too.
