I agree with Jonathan and Harold,
As with Harold, I hate to get involved in this discussion because every time it comes up it seems to get so volatile (IMO) due to a lack of understanding and experience with the lyrtic tool but I thought I would submit my favor for the CORE logic of the lyric system.
I have been working with lyric tool 40+hrs./week for the past 10+ years and would hate to see a radical change to the CORE logic of the lyric system. It works very well and is very logical once you take the time to understand it. I use both Type into Score and Click Assign. depending on the situation. Once you start working with editors you will quickly discover that using the same lyrics over and over from Click Assign. without having seperate texts for different appearances could easily put you in a foul mood.
Some of the issues I have with the lyrics within Finale are beyond the scope of the current conversation. Such as Flushing left is not "proper" flushing left in terms of typsetting rules especially with a lower case "j" and there are a few other letters (I would need to dig up the tech support email from way back). There are other issues but I do not have the inspiration to write them down today.
