Fin2004 has made this impossible for me. There are workarounds, like printing the parts as they are finished and marking them up by hand, (instead of printing all of them at the end), but that ends up wasting both time and paper.
Ah. What you call a workaround is to me standard operating procedure. I find proofreading hardcopy much more reliable than doing it onscreen. Also, there are always little details that just don't show up on the screen, so it would be necessary to proof a printed copy anyway.
I agree. I never have more than one file open at a time, as I do my proofing on hard-copy. This isn't a major drain on time or toner, though, because these days I've mostly been doing string orchestra stuff... just a few parts. However, I do the same for band pieces because it's a lot more time-consuming for me to tinker around with an on-screen display than to look over the parts on paper. Also, I catch more things on paper than I do on-screen.
FWIW, though, I too have sent in a vicarious bugfix request.
