Hi Dennis,

Thanks so much for your help -- but do you mind if I ask a couple more questions before I take the plunge into FinaleScript?

1) Will "batch process folder" also affect subfolders?
2) What happens to older Finale files? Will they be skipped/automatically converted to Fin2005 / cause the script to hang / something else?

Cheers,

Hey gang,

Is there some method for swapping one font for another in *all* currently open files -- or in a folder of files?

Pretty much all of my old Finale files used the fonts "Palatia" and "Palatia Bold" (which are for some reason separate fonts). I want to change all instances of Palatia in all my old files to Palatino, and all instances of Palatia Bold to Palatino (with the "bold" box checked).

Any way of doing this?

Use "Finalescript"

If the answer is "Use FinaleScript" then I may need some additional pointers, as I have no idea how FinaleScript works.

Create a script with the following:

batch process folder
search "" [Palatia] replace "" [Palatino]
search "" [Palatia Bold] replace "" [Palatino] bold

or
process all open documents
search "" [Palatia] replace "" [Palatino]
search "" [Palatia Bold] replace "" [Palatino] bold

Make sure you get the font names exactly as they appear in the dialog boxes.

Dennis
