That seems to me to be a form of "taking away" since you're paying
your money and if you don't want to drink the GPO Kool Aid, you're
not getting the benefit of a large part of the investment MakeMusic
made in this version of Finale.

But Dennis was worried that HP in 2006 would require changes in the way he's been working, even if he doesn't want to use GPO. That's not the case. He can elect not to use GPO -- or not to install it -- and continue to use his preferred playback method just as he always has.

That said, I agree a user-definable Human Playback dictionary should be a high priority for Finale 2007, and I have made the case to Coda as forcefully as I know how.
