This approach seems to work best for me. However, I'm having trouble
applying this when I want one time signature to span two staves, and another
to span more. When selecting Engraver Time for the font, I found that the
numerator and denominator were on top of each other, so I adjusted the
offset in Document Options. I got it to look just right for a two-staff
group. However, I can't find a way to adjust this offset for independent
staves. I see the option in Staff Settings to make time signatures an
independent element, but am lost beyond that...

I had thought to resize the "time signature staff" for the other time
signature to a larger size. This does work. However, now the time
signatures are horizontally aligned on the left, but the enlarged signatures
protrude further to the right than the non-enlarged ones--catch my drift?
Have you found a workaround to this challenge?

Thanks again,
Christopher
