Prepare your fretboards with the chord tool, attaching them to rests. Align fretboards on top of the staff for convenience. In the staff tool, deselect all the checkboxes, and select the 0-line staff option. That should do it for you.

   I really am having trouble trying to find the answer in the help section.
    My OS is WinXP and I'm using finale 2003.  Any help would surely be appreciated.
