Tell her either one is fine, and she should go with whichever one she
has knowledgeable friends around to help her with.
It used to be that Mac was "the" machine for music, but no longer.
But learning how to use the computer can be quite daunting, and if
everyone around her has a Mac and she buys a PC she won't be able to get
friendly assitance. Likewise, if she buys a Mac when all around her own
PCs.
If you'll be her primary "tech support" then have her buy what you're
most familiar with.
