It sounds like an unintentional bug, the kind of thing that might be fixed in a version update. That kind of bug is the kind of thing that easily slip into builds just before a product milestone as unintended consequences of other bug fixes. The choice is sometimes between shipping the product on time with an annoyance like this and fixing it later or missing your ship date. I'm pretty sure that for bugs that have a workaround in most cases, I'd prefer the ship and patch later rather than holding the release. If there were no workarounds and one could never ever use plugins, I'd have made a different call. -- David W.
