A distinction must be drawn between capitalized and uncapitalized
"the." If it is capitalized, then it is part of the actual, official
name of whatever, and must always be used (as: The Colorado College).
If "the" is not part of the name, it should never be capitalized
(except at the beginning of a sentence, etc.)
I am pretty sure there is no "The" in the name of Johns Hopkins
University, and in fact (and apropos of my other post to this thread)
I've never said it that way in my life--and I'm from Maryland!
