P.S. The choice of the default whole measure rest is another issue. Regardless of what might be preferable, I want to decide myself, and not let Finale decide for me.


I realize that P.S. but couldn't help expressing my opinion on the subject. I agree wholeheartedly that it should be your decision and not the program's.

As to metatools and expressions and staff-lists, what I have found works great is to use the metatool then right-click and in the Expression Assignment dialog assign it to the staff list. It just seems to work better for my work flow. Probably ends up being the same number of mouse-clicks and expletive-utterances but somehow it works for me.
