Just use the dropdown and enter the values, they'll stick even when they are invisible. FWIW, recent versions of Finale has "correct" (=multiple) settings in the default files for things like accent+staccato.

I have been kludging this for YEARS!

I think I'll send a little note (number 847 of... well I don't know when it will end) to gently suggest that this might not be the best interface design...
