Darcy,
I've tried it, but everything seems to be OK and nothing I do really
does anything. I am assuming the 8th rest character is #228 and the
dot is #46 (that's what is selected in the Doc Options>Augmentation
Dots), and both have nice tight boundaries to the edges of the
glyphs. The problem appears on all flagged rests (sixteenths, etc.)
Furthermore, when I open files created in EARLIER versions of Finale
(before 2007) the dots are correct. Only in new files do the dots
show up too far away.
There does not appear to be a setting to adjust the distance for
augmentation dots on RESTS, only on notes. I assume that this setting
applies to both, but is obviously too large for flagged rests.
If you could give this a quick try and report back, maybe you will
have more luck than I have.

Hi Chris,
I haven't tried it, but I'm almost positive that you could fix this
by adjusting the FAN for the eighth rest character in Jazz Font.

'd actually be happy if dotted eighth rests just worked properly.
In the JazzFont the dots on flagged rests are too far to the right
of the rest and have to be individually, manually adjusted. Grr.
