I use AppleWorks to catalogue my quintet's music library. We have fields for Number, Title, Composer, Arranger and when the piece was last performed.. We have 500 pieces of music. So far, when I need to look up a piece, I can do it easily.

Question: is AppleWorks Database Flat or Relational?

The way you're using it, it's a flat-file database. Relational databases don't need to be used relationally, when that's not necessary. It's all in how the database is set up that makes it relational or flat-file.

Some data-base management programs don't allow for relational databases, but all allow for flat-file databases, even if the program can do relational database work.

I'm on PC so I don't know the current version of Appleworks, but years ago it was definitely flat-file only.
