I realize that I can use the eraser tool to manually erase the markings,
however, in this particular case it would indeed be a lot easier to
erase them in the source, rather than to use Photoshop for this.
I was actually hoping to find a toll which could distinguish (by colour
I guess) the pencil markings from the print, and simply take them out
for me. If that is not possible I will have to clean them before I scan
them.
One possibility would be to make the original scan be a
color scan, then you might be able to distinguish by color
and eliminate the pencil markings all at once. When you
have them all removed that way, you could convert to the
level of grayscale that the scan-to-music program you're
using will work well with.
