Before I go with ordinary treble clefs and add the 15 as a separate text, any suggestions would be much appreciated.
this has always been my preferred method, this way the clef is the same font as the normal treble clef. the numbers i find too small on 8va and 15va clefs as well, in my view, so this method allows for better graphic control and consistency.
