Hi Chuck,

Yes the positioning of repeat texts is old-school a bit. Something like a $
that one returns to is LEFT aligned, so if you enter zero in the Horizontal
Positioning box, it will align with the beginning of MUSIC, not the left
barline. Something like a DS al Coda or To Coda is RIGHT aligned, so a
horizontal offset of zero should give you correct alignment with the RIGHT
barline. In all cases, though, negative values offset LEFT from the default
zero, while positive offsets RIGHT, just like a graph from Grade 9 trigonometry.

It's when you enter a non-zero position (or drag it left or right) and then the
staff size changes from score to part, like just about always. Then it seems to
go sideways, but it actually works as designed. The offset is in REAL units,
whereas you probably expect the offset to be scaled along with the staff. This
means that if you enter a 30 EVPU offset (or drag it by that amount) in the
score, it looks correct, but it ends up being to little or too much in the
parts. I just enter horizontal positions as zeros, which is usually right for
the parts, but I command-drag in the score so as not to change them for the
parts.

Before they fixed these, I entered my DSes as an expression, but then had to
enter ANOTHER attached to a multimeasure rest in the part. I hid it everywhere
(by command right-clicking in the part and unselecting Show) then I showed it
just in the part (by right-clicking WITHOUT the command key, and selecting
Show.) It gets easy once you know.
