That simple procedure (in Fin2012) presents no problems for me. Does the staff need to be a transposing staff? I don't really understand what you mean by "repitch it by holding down a new chord on the MIDI keyboard and hitting Enter." When I do what I read you to be saying, nothing happens, so there must be a step I'm missing.
