Hi Chuck, Always a pleasure on my end as well!
The nature of MIDI is that once a MIDI instrument receives a command, it stays that way until it gets another command setting it to another value, or zeroes it. So the playback machine gets a message, either from a previous playback or from a controller on your keyboard (like the pitch wheel) and then it affects everything that comes out of it on that channel until it is told otherwise. On my controller, the pitch wheel doesn't have a spring on it to bring it back to zero, so if I nudge it accidentally or put a book on it and it moves, I get all kinds of strange pitch problems until I figure out what I did. If you have a second wheel on your controller, it may be mapped to something like volume or expression, and cause similar problems. Or it might just be an expression in your Finale file on the same MIDI channel. I have all kinds of ghosts like that waiting to jump out at me in my expressions from old files.
