dselect hangs when I select:
1. [U]pdate Update list of available packages, if possible.

It goes this far and then just stops:

When I close the terminal window I get:
Closing this window will terminate the following processes inside it: dselect, sh,
apt-get

So I open the process app and see that dselect, sh and apt-get are running as root.
I go back and tell terminal to close anyway and back in the process window dselect
and sh stop but apt-get keeps on going. I try:
sudo kill 301 (or whatever the pid is)
and it still runs. I log out of admin and into root and still can't make it stop.
If I try to restart or shutdown I get the blank blue screen with the ball stuck in
the upper l/h corner, necessitating a hard restart...and then upon reboot (surprise)
it has stopped.
Mac os x.1.2, fink 0.3.2a
I see in the documentation how to sudo rm -rf /sw
but I would rather not.
Thanks for any and all ideas.
oh, by the way...the thread about the "weird" users...I remember the little dialog
that comes
up and says at the end if I didn't understand what in the hell it was talking about
to just say yes. I did and didn't think nothing about it till today when I had this
apt-get problem.
Strangely enough, I don't have any weird users...just me.
