Hmm, well, then, that'd be my problem. When Ilook at the contents of the xfree86-rootless deb file, it does *not*t contain all of XDarwin, app: [kitty-cat-of-doom:/sw/fink/debs] sarac% dpkg --contents xfree86-rootless_4.2.0-2_darwin-powerpc.deb | grep XDarwin.app | less drwxr-xr-x root/admin 0 2002-02-14 02:27:01 ./Applications/XDarwin.app/ drwxr-xr-x root/admin 0 2002-02-14 02:27:01 ./Applications/XDarwin.app/Co ntents/ drwxr-xr-x root/admin 0 2002-02-14 02:27:01 ./Applications/XDarwin.app/Contents/MacOS/ -rwxr-xr-x root/admin 3681152 2002-02-14 02:27:01 ./Applications/XDarwin.app/Contents/MacOS/XDarwin lrwxr-xr-x root/admin 0 2002-02-14 02:27:09 ./usr/X11R6/bin/XDarwinQuartz -> /Applications/XDarwin.app/Contents/MacOS/XDarwin I just did fink selfupdate, and fink rebuild xfee86-base and xfree86-rootless, and fink reinstall of them (just in case I was misreading the fink man page), and still no luck. Anyone have suggestions for what to do next? The builds seemed to finish successfully, and I'm not sure what would make a package totally not contain things. (If it was going to not install some things under some circumstances, I'd expect it to still put them in the deb package, and then make the decision at install time.) > Also, I just noticed from your original post that you are starting with > 'startx -- -quartz -rootless'. I just use 'startx -- -rootless' to start > rootless, or 'startx -- -quartz' to start rooted (the rootless package also > contains the rooted server). Try removing xfree86-server, and installing > xfree86-base and xfree86-rootless from unstable again. Then try using just > one option with startx. Sorry, I should have mentioned before -- I tried with just -rootless, as well as with just -quartz, and both give the same error as origianlly, about no Info.plist for XDarwin. But thanks for the suggestion, it'll be useful if I ever get this working. :-) (And I don't actually have xfree86-server install -- someone had suggested that I needed both that and xfree86-rootless installed, so I tried to install it, but fink told me it conflicted with xfree86-rootless, so it never ended up installed.)
