Hi,

This is a question concerning downgrading libxml2 again. So, I have
libxml2-2.4.25 installed currently. I wanted to downgrade to version 2.4.23.
I downloaded both the .info and .patch files for 2.4.23 and moved them into
the /sw/fink/10.2/local/main/finkinfo directory. I also moved the equivalent
files for 2.4.25 out of both stable and unstable finkinfo directories
(although Alexander indicated that this is not necessary).

I then issued a 'fink install libxml2-2.4.23' command. This is the
installation log:

> sudo /sw/bin/fink install libxml2-2.4.23
> Reading package info...
> Homepage: http://www.xmlsoft.org/ in
> /sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo/libxml2-2.4.23-1.info
> Updating package index... done.

>
> pkg libxml2 version 2.4.23
> Failed: no matching version found for libxml2
> [borcim70:~] chia%

I thought that it could not find the tarball, so I downloaded the source
tarball from gnome cvs and put it into the /sw/src directory.

When I tried to install it again (same command as above), same error
message appeared.

I then modified the .info file to point the Source to the location of
the tarball on my hard drive:

> Package: libxml2
> Version: 2.4.23
> Revision: 1
> Maintainer: Max Horn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
> Depends: %N-shlibs (= %v-%r), %N-bin
> BuildDepends: gtk-doc, python, db3, readline, gdbm, gmp, expat, tcltk-dev
> Source: sw/src/%n-%v.tar.gz
> Source-MD5: 93ea03bcb105a0ae2ecea4f4fbd5bade
> Patch: %f.patch
> NoSetLDFLAGS: true
> <snip>

I still got the same error message when I tried to install.

Can anyone help me out? Thanks!!

    Chia
