When I look at the contents of /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts I do see a Speedo,
Type1, and CID directories do exist.  I don't see any files in any sub-
directories with a name or variation of "fixed".

I'll keep poking around.  Any thoughts on what to do next would be 
appreciated!
