i have compiled gaim 0.71, the latest fink version. however, i am a compulsive cutting-edge person.

i did my usual thing of downloading the code, compiling, and the installing. i configured using:
./configure --prefix=/sw

when i tried to to run the program using:
gaim &

the program opened, but it just sat there, the window froze. in order to get out of the mess i had to force kill gaim:
kill -9 [process number]

what am i doing wrong?

And why didn't you just do "fink install gaim"? I believe there's more lines that get fed to configure, and there's a patch, too.
