cause you dont need fink to run gaim anymore really on Mac OS X.
Im running the latest version from sourceforge, 0.75 with no problems whatesoever.
Used to keep up with Fink until they fell behind versions, and then removed 0.75.
Just use fink to install gaim-ssl once. it will build all your dependencies for you.
Then remove gaim. Download a tarball from Sourceforge, and compile like the instructions say.
As long as your paths are properly setup, gaim will find the libraries it needs and youll have a nice working copy in /usr/local/bin.
For some reason I cant compile from CVS builds anymore, but the regular release works fine.
