The two instances of X11 firing up has to do with an incorrect setting for
$DISPLAY. Most likely your .profile file has a line that says: "export
DISPLAY=0:0" and if you delete that, the dual X11 instances should come to a
stop. Clearing the line out should fix that part of the problem.
