Correction, I finally found an original 10.5.0 X11User.pkg, and there
the version is indeed 3.0.0. And the kdelibs3-unified package in the
Fink 0.9.0 bindist is linked with libXrandr.2.dylib version 4.0.0.

So it seems to me now that the Fink 0.9.0 bindist is not compatible with
a raw 10.5.0 Leopard system. It needs to be upgraded to at least 10.5.2.
The 10.5.2 upgrade has (as do all later system updates and all xquartz
updates that have libXrandr) libXrandr.2.dylib version 4.0.0.
