A better way to accomplish the changes you wanted to make, at least for
which openmotif library gets used,  is to use

cp /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/finkinfo/sci/grace.info
/sw/fink/dists/unstable \ /main/finkinfo/sci/grace.patch
/sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo

(you might have to create the latter directory) and then to try "fink
update grace"

And get rid of those libraries which you manually installed.  Moving
individual files around is generally a bad idea.
