David & Dr H:
Since I'm on a roll here, still stumbling around with the Fink thing . . .
to David's question, "what am I trying to install?" Well, I am looking for
a way to keep an up to date browser going in a PPC computer as Apple begins
to drop support for PPC the OS is generally adequate for my needs, but the
browsers begin to not show current features. The hope is to find a way to
do that without changing the OS to Linux, etc since mostly 10.4.11 covers my
needs. But, right now the binary browser available thru FC is Mozilla which
may in fact be an older version than what I have from my 10.1 OS. So it
looks like a bit of a learning curve on using Fink to install FF or whatever
from source . . . . That's mainly what I'm looking for from the Unix side
of things--just be able to get to new web features as the OS becomes
"obsolete." But, while I'm asking my naive questions, do I need a "desktop"
like GNOME or K to run whatever Unix browser I could get running since OSX
already has a desktop? And, one final step to the banana peel, I've looked
for the User guide for Fink as per Dr H's suggestion but I see it no where
on the web site or in the installed Fink folders . . . where do I find it?
Thanks. I'll be leaving the room shortly. : - )

Look at the Users Guide, which is more like a manual.

So, I guess at this point, the proper question to ask you is this: what are
