Dr H:

So, what you're saying is, "it's complicated, very complicated . . . ."  : -
)

I'm away from the one computer that has more packages installed, but I tried
the "metacity --replace &" on an X11 window and it said "metacity command
not found" . . . so I'll have to try that on the other computer.

"Pick something interesting, and I'll tell you how to do it." Well, as
you may remember I was looking for a way to keep an up to date browser going
with the ever aging PPC, but that doesn't seem viable using Unix as the
support seems to be moving away there and only older browsers are available
anyway. So, choice two would be chess, and "crafty" is supposed to be a
"strong" player. What would I need to download and install and then what
commands would I use to play a Unix game of crafty chess in the PPC? Or
would crafty just be the engine and I'd have to have another GUI chessboard
to use it? But, let's say, how to get from "fink install crafty" to then
play a game of unix chess? Do I need other commands to get fink to install
a whole game package and then how to get the chess board and engine to show
up and play on?

X11 window managers don't really work that way, normally. They generally
