Jack, to avoid any future misunderstanding on this: I was not asking your to "prove" yourself, nor did I ever say you will automatically get your CVS commit rights back if and only if meet a certain condition. We give those out primarily based on personal trust. Doing great work on packages (and esp. doing it on big / difficult packages) certainly contributes, but is not everything. So once/if/when your gcc packages are committed, please don't expect to automatically get commit rights! This is not how it works. As I said, this all is based a lot on personal trust. How you react to constructive criticism and feedback, and how you treat other team members, is also highly important. We all need to work together, not against each other. Misunderstandings happen, esp. on the internet where text is not accompanied by sound, and tone, and so intentions can be unclear. We all suffer from this, but it's possible to deal with this more gracefully. In general, let's try to assume nobody here wants to hurt anybody else intentionally. And if you have the feeling your are hurt, first ask for clarification resp. politely voice your irritation. Before starting to accuse lots of people of various things, as this will only contribute to more hurt feelings and misunderstandings and lets things spin out of control. And it burns a lot of bridges behind you, too. I know you feel as if your time and effort is not honored appropriately and hence are angry and feel insulted. But many others here also spent a lot of their free time, and they (e.g. JF and drm, to name those you addressed directly in your most recent mails) also don't like being insulted by you. Think about that. The *technical* discussion of your gcc4x package(s) is completely independent of that, though, and of course your package and your efforts should receive the same "rights" and respect as any other. In conclusion, the current discussion, the way you initiated it and how you behaved in it, makes me extremely reluctant to agree to a commit bit for you in the near future. I don't think that this was caused by the lack of your commit bit, as you implied, rather, it shows why you lack the commit bit.
